Green Lakes backpack

We hiked about 5.5 miles to the Green Lakes Basin, found a campsite, and explored the basin a bit before dinner. That night the moon rose over Broken Top and offered gentle light all through the night. Just before midnight I heard an owl.

On our second day we hiked to Moraine Lake, an eight mile day. Linda noted many birds along the way. We watched climbers on South Sister and hung out at the lake for quite some time. Again, the moon rose over Broken Top that evening.

On our third day we had a deer visit our campsite during breakfast. We packed our gear and headed out, a seven mile hike to the trailhead. We enjoyed a quiet, gently graded trail and scenic views.
